Vicariously I live....
Tomorrow, 9:15am. I am getting on a plane and flying to Canberra. Why? Because I actually booked some time to follow a band around and find out what really happens on tour.
That's right, I'm really doing it. It was only last night that this was confirmed, I booked my plane ticket this morning, it's all very last minute and I hope it all goes well. I currently have no accomodation booked, no transport from Canberra to Sydney (where the second show will be) and not even a vague idea about what to expect. This whole thing seems a little crazy but for the longest time I have wanted to have an adventure like this, so I guess if I learn nothing from this trip at least I'll have some interesting stories.
The band I'm following around is The Vasco Era, an extremely talented trio who I discovered not long ago and haven't been able to stop listening to. If anyone is wondering what possessed me to do this, besides my completely spontaneous nature, I blame Joan Didion and The White Album. A copy of this is coming with me on my trip, just for comforts sake. Slouching Toward Bethlehem also.
Any comments on this? You'll be seeing photos and hearing tales soon enough so please someone let me know you've read this!
