Last but not least

: The dead girl
I have just finished watching the dead girl, an absolutely breath taking, mesmerizing film. I lost track of all time and became immersed in the stories of each character, each one fascinating and tragic in its own way.

This was presumably the last film Brittany Murphy starred in, and this makes the film all the more tragic. She was brilliant, absolutely brilliant as Krista a.k.a the dead girl. This film has a brilliant cast of stars, everyone was really suited to the part and even the quickest of appearances add to the dimensions of this film.

The film is split into 5 segments: the stranger, the sister, the wife, the mother and the dead girl. Toni Collette is the stranger who finds the dead girl, she lives with her abusive mother and escapes to find a new life with Giovanni Ribisi (something i wouldn't mind doing). Rose Byrne is the sister of an abducted girl, and she is forced to live in the shadows of an event that happened over a decade ago.

The wife chooses to stay silent and hide an awful secret. The mother is searching for a daughter who long since disappeared and finds something else she wasn't expecting. And then there is the dead girl, the catalyst for all of the films events in one way or another. She is a feisty and protective woman who has chosen an unfortunate path in life. Although she sets out with good intentions the results are ultimately tragic.

This is an original, thought provoking film that thoroughly assess what an horrific crime like this can do to a person, and the way it can affect people seemingly unrelated to it.

It was so refreshing to see a film like this where I could be immersed completely and not think about anything outside of the plot. I sincerely hope that Karen Moncrieff continues to make films like this; it is a breath of fresh air and addition to modern films that was sorely needed. It is also a giant leap forward in a great direction from the not so great blue car.
