Shutter Island
I have just returned home from watching shutter island and i am relieved to say my anticipation was not in vain.
I am a huge fan of Martin Scorcese and even though i have every belief in his abilities i still go into each new film nervously, hoping it lives up to my expectations (i.e. the departed which was better than i could have imagined).
Shutter Island was completely different to what i was expecting, the trailers made it look like a terrifying thriller, but it couldn't be further from it.
Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the finest actors of this generation, he has relentlessly proved it, especially in the last decade.
This film is no exception and i couldn't help but get dragged into the surreality of it all.
The entire casting of this film was terrific, i especially loved seeing Michelle Williams on screen again- she was beautiful, engaging and terrifying!
I don't want to talk film specifics because it would give things away.
I have to admit that the opening credits and the first scene on the ship gave me a feeling that i really missed; the one i only get when sitting down to watch a really great 1940's noir film.
I can't wait to see what Mr. Scorcese comes out with next, that guy is amazing!
