I think it needs the chair

: The killer inside me

To me Casey Affleck's films, up until a few moments ago, were in the same league as Leonardo DiCaprio's: if he was in it I would watch it, no questions asked. The assassination of Jesse James was a brilliant film, and Casey's performance was terrific. The same goes for Gone Baby Gone/I], that film gave me chills. However, I just watched the killer inside me and I have been disillusioned.

I have seen serial killer films of all types. There are the psychological thrillers like the [I]Hannibal
series, the police biopics like Zodiac and there are films likeM that try to make sense of it all. This film shares nothing with any other film of this type, and that isn't a good thing. There is no real reason given as to why the main character has compulsions to kill, no exploration of his thought process and there are as many plot holes as bullet holes riddled through out this train wreck. I read that people were sickened by the violence against women, as I was, but it could have been overlooked if it had led to something.

Casey Affleck was great in this role, as I was expecting, but that is the only good thing I can say. Jessica Alba, try as she may, is not made for serious roles like this. Her performance in the last part was brief but completely uninspiring. Kate Hudson's character had no development and became boring, leaving me to not care about what happened to her.

The last scene in this film, the one that could have saved it, was pathetic, unthoughtful and badly digitalised. I can't see reasons for why any of the film's events happened, the premise was so flimsy it could have been crafted by a daytime soap writer.

Shame on you

To the director Mr. Winterbottom,

If you want to change the genre, we all know you have to do something to make it stand out, something to grab people's attention and make them talk. Gratuitous violence, rediculous sex scenes and non-sensical plots are not the way to do this. I would love to see an explanation as to WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING.

Also, if you want to use music in a scene and really make it stick, I mean really send shivers down the audience's collective spine, then take a page out of Rob Zombie's book. His films have a flawless use of music, and your attempt at it was really kind of sad.

In closing, you took a great genre, a terrific setting and a pretty good cast and managed to make a film that made me squirm with awkwardness and sick with bile filled anger. Not a great way for me to spend a Friday night, I can tell you.

Your least likely to ever be a fan,
Kylie.

PS: The film posters really sucked.
PPS: It's enough with the T&A in your films, we get you like naked chicks but seriously, enough.
